Rheumatic diseases are frequently complicated by extra-articular manifestations, often affecting the eye.

This module gives a summary of important conditions, in order of urgency of treatment, for non-ophthalmologists who are involved in the management of patients with rheumatic diseases.

  1. Gain insight into the epidemiology, clinical presentation, common complications and treatment regimens of these ocular manifestations, which may prevent permanent loss of vision
  2. Understand that most symptoms are benign and develop over long periods of time
